Images of Father's Day

We had a great day celebrating Father's Day yesterday.

I did something completely different this of the few times
 I have allowed paper plates.
We did a soul food /country theme, so I thought the paper plates would work well with
bandana place mats and mason jar glasses.

We drank lots of sweet tea and lemonade.

My husband and boys requested good ole' southern soul food
 and I even served right out of the pots;
Collard greens, cornbread, mac & cheese, green beans and potatoes, lima beans, creamed corn,
potato salad, ham & turkey.  It was some mighty good eatin' y'all.
The kids made desserts, which made preparing dinner so much easier.
We had Cherry Cheesecake, Key Lime Pie & the old faithful Dirt Cake.

I can't help inner Marie Barone  loves to cook for my family and loves to see them eat.

I read a quote this week....
"Be kind to the people at your table...they are the most important people in your life."

The best time is always after a meal.  We always spend a lot of time just talking at the table.
I always wonder what the in-laws and girlfriends think as we just sit and talk..and talk...and talk.
It is the absolute best part of being together.

Dad got his traditional jar of jellybeans.

He also received a canopy he wanted.  The guys ran out and quickly put it up.
We stood under it and enjoyed the shade for a few minutes and then headed back inside to the AC.
Pinterest outside eating and games don't happen much in Florida, especially in the middle
of the day.

Later, our younger son re-enacted his recent wedding proposal for us.
We love our sweet daughter to be.

I am thankful for my wonderful husband.  He has always been a wonderful father to our children.
He has been a daily example of a faithful, God loving husband and father.
We are blessed!

"He who fears the Lord has a secure fortress, and for his children it will be a refuge."
~Proverbs 14:26

My blog simply depicts our regular life.  It's nothing great to most.  It is to us.  I blog as a way to preserve my thoughts and our family memories for our children.  "Because one day, you will look back and realize the little things were the big things"...... Thank you for taking the time to read.

I hope you were able to enjoy some time with your family.

  1. I really loved this post, Betty! What a sweet family. And the meal sounded completely perfect!!!! :-) Is that an enamelware topped table in your kitchen where the food is???? I love it! Enamelware is one of my favorite things - be it pots and pans, bowls, buckets or tables! - Dori -
