These photos were taken last year at
Obediah's Okefenok homestead in Waycross, Georgia.
Simplicity, hard work, lots of family packed in small spaces...
Do you think they were happier than we are today in our spoiled state?
I believe so.
"No chaos, no creation.
Evidence: the kitchen at mealtime."
~Mason Cooley
I am grateful for:
My gas stove and modern day conveniences
Working together in the kitchen with my husband
Laughter, chatter & chaos of family in the kitchen
A faithful God who has always supplied our every need
"But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus."
~Philippians 4:19
Naming them,

Betty I too am so grateful for my modern conveniences...I think we forget how lucky we are sometimes! thank you for joining Gratitude Sunday, it means a lot to me!

Hi Betty~ Loved these pics. Having more 'stuff' doesn't fill the God-shaped void in our hearts. Nice post~

I'm grateful for our conveniences too. But, most of all for His Love. We are rich in our blessings. =)
ReplyDeleteGreat post ! :) So true! :)
ReplyDeleteI know they were just as happy probably more so than now, great post

i agree with you, they were a lot happier with less things.
ReplyDeleteOh I love your pix! I often wonder how women did it everyday, working so hard from sun up to sun down without the help we have. Jim and I have stayed in a little cabin in British Columbia that forces us to live a very simple life. I love it and it's always hard to go back to reality. It's amazing what you can do without.
ReplyDeleteGreat post.
